Gather
Our ancestors knew the importance of these spaces. Where each voice was accepted and welcome. There was no ‘right’ no ‘wrong’ way to be. The magic came in simply being with each other, in an honest, non-competitive, and unrushed way. Over the years, through the rise of patriarchy, it has felt to me and many other women I know, that this simplicity and rootedness of being with one another, has become parched; even scarce.
I offer these spaces of nature gatherings where you are invited to arrive just as you are. No expectation to perform or pretend or be in any particular way. We gather to be with one another through the following thresholds:
Samhain (the passage of autumn into Winter), Imbolc (The return of the light of spring), Beltane (the arrival of summer, fertility, growth) and Lunghnasadh (celebration of harvest season and the abundance of the natural land).
As each season around us ebbs and flows into the next, we have space to acknowledge what may be present, passing and rising within us. Alongside this we gather close to autumn and spring equinox, when the dance of light and dark draws close and even.
Being outdoors allows our bodies to return to an ancient way of being, way of knowing. We synch with the elements, earth, water, wind and fire. For a time we return to our natural, unhurried rhythm.
We will begin each gathering with an optional grounding practice, to open space together. Sometimes we might explore a theme followed by an opportunity to share and reflect. You are invited to share in a way that feels true to you - perhaps through words, sound or music and you always have the choice not to share, and be witness to anouther’s story.
Sometimes there will be time to journal and reflect with yourself. You are warmly encouraged to play and find what feels supportive and nourishing for you in the moment.
Sharing.
Remembering.
Belonging.
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting–
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
Wild Geese -Mary Oliver
Please bring yourself as you are on the day, a journal and pen (if you like) and any warm layers you may need - Scottish weather can be unpredictable!
Timing: We will gather on Saturday 13th September 8-9.30am.
Price: The exchange for attending the circle is £5. It is important to me that this space is accessible and inclusive. Please don’t let price be a reason you can’t attend, get in touch and we’ll work it out.
