Soul-Centred Alchemy
Closing out chapters and opening into new beginnings through embodied story work, community and ritual.
Letting the heart and soul be heard.
Releasing stuck energy and restrictive narratives.
Letting the body reclaim it’s own rhythm.
Closing out chapters and opening into new beginnings.
I work with people who hold a longing for peace. Within themselves and/or some area of their life.
And the above is how I practice.
Oftentimes we may come to yearn for a greater sense of peace in our lives because we have lived through (or are living through) challenging situations, events and experiences. Sometimes these experiences have been chosen. Often times they have not. Whatever the case, you hold a longing to make a peace with some aspect of your life - or of your experience - so that you can embody and express yourself soul-fully in the present.
Life itself is seasonal, transitional. I used to think that there is only one birth and death in this life, but through my own lived experience and through working with people over the last 15 years I have come to see how we are always, in some way, doing our best to navigate endless cycles of death and rebirth throughout our lifetime.
Sometimes these cycles, or rebirths may feel (to name but a few...) disorientating or bewildering, exciting or joyous (or a heady mix of all).
I aim to facilitate spaces where the liminal spaces between such deaths and rebirths are honoured, held, and explored. In doing so you give yourself the space to tend to stuck energy in the bodymind so that it may be breathed with, felt and moved.
Liminal spaces…
Our experience can’t really be reduced to a list, but the below are but a few ways that a longing for peace may be born.
A friendship might abruptly end or change course, an intimate relationship falls away completely or, can in itself, go through many rebirths, a family estrangement born from the need to self-protect leaves you adrift, the decision not to be able to have children - made for you not by you, and indeed the decision to have children can sometimes bring with it an unspoken grief for a life once known and loved, or the career you once strived for feels empty and joy-less, you’ve become a parent and are curious to understand who you have become, or you’ve come through a period of burnout or ill health and don’t yet know where to place the next step. Sometimes there is no apparent event ‘out there’ but rather there is the stirring and growing whispers from ‘in here’ that something needs changing…
It’s no wonder we can go through seasons feeling stuck, unsure, a bit lost or disillusioned.
Whatever the source, endings are personal, visceral and relative.
My approach…
I aim to offer both fierce and tender presence; to be nurturing and challenging. For when we have safety, we have a root from which to grow, express and expand into previously unknown parts of ourselves. There can be a potency to having our experience witnessed - for alone we already know what we know. This space is about journeying through the unknown, it is intuitive and with an open heart it has the potential to be deep, evocative and profound. I offer 1:1 sessions, nature gatherings and retreat workshops. We work primarily through ‘story’. A story can be another way to think about the meaning and language we have given to our experience. Stories can help us to orientate to ourselves and our relationship with life. Sometimes they are conscious and sometimes they are not. This work is about bringing a curiosity to them and seeing what wants to emerge.
How might a session ‘look’?
My intention is to ‘meet you where you are’ and from here we explore the story or stories that have brought you to this moment. Sometimes we might explore creative and embodied practices that support expression of our inner experience, in this way novel insights on a given story may be revealed. Examples of practices might include breathwork, sound, movement. We might work outside or online, work intentionally with ritual and always honour the guidance of nature through the space. For when stuck energy is allowed to move, alchemy and transformation become possible.
The essence…
This soul essence of this work is about re-sourcing, re-authoring, re-membering and re-claiming yourself through these passages, these transitions, these liminal spaces. This work is not about going back to who you were at the start. It is about becoming unbound and embodying your soulful-heart centred expression as you are today. It is not about being or doing ‘more’.
It is about remembering and honouring who you always and already are and opening into that possibility.
It is not therapy but it can be therapeutic.
A final note…
The longing itself for peace can be a radical act of faith. Because to even hold the longing, yet alone undertake the journey, already speaks to your possibility for peace. I consider it a great privilege to work with these people who have felt and heard the quiet whispers of their souls to go deeper and are ready enough to embrace this time - their time - to cross through the liminal and re-birth themselves anew.
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
There is a field. I'll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
The world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
Doesn't make any sense.”
